Russian Football Union refuses to join Asian confederation

The Russian Football Union (RFU) abandoned the idea of moving to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), reported from RBC.
The issue was discussed at the RFU executive committee.
All members of the executive committee believed that moving to Asia without guarantees from FIFA made no sense. The RFU will continue its efforts to return to international competition through UEFA.
Since February 2022, the Russian national team, after being suspended from UEFA and FIFA tournaments, has been playing only friendly matches, and Russian clubs cannot play in European cups.
The RFU already discussed the possibility of moving to Asia last year, but in the end, it was decided to create a working group with UEFA.
