Hajiyev and Talibov to compete for Azerbaijan at Judo World Championships

The Judo World Championships continue in Budapest, where Azerbaijan claimed its first medal on Monday as Zelim Tckaev secured bronze in the 81kg category.
On Tuesday, two more Azerbaijani judokas will enter the competition. Eljan Hajiyev, the 2024 European champion, will begin his campaign in the round of 16, facing the winner of a bout between competitors from Uzbekistan and Mauritius.
Youth Olympic gold medalist (2018, Buenos Aires) and European U23 champion Vugar Talibov will face Georgia’s Luka Maisuradze — a former world and European champion — in the round of 32.
A total of 13 Azerbaijani athletes are participating in the individual events of the championship. The individual competition concludes on June 19, followed by the mixed team event on June 20.
