Forest fire erupts near Khochaz in Lachin

A forest fire broke out in the mountainous area near the village of Khochaz in Azerbaijan’s Lachin district, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

The blaze spread across territory where military operations had previously taken place. According to preliminary information, an explosion occurred during firefighting efforts, likely caused by landmines or unexploded ordnance.

Emergency crews have managed to contain the fire in most areas. However, the blaze continues in sections where explosive devices may still be present. Specialized equipment and additional personnel have been deployed to the site, and security measures have been reinforced.
