Nearly 83,000 children born out of wedlock in Azerbaijan over past five years

A total of 82,944 children were born out of wedlock in Azerbaijan over the past five years, according to data from the State Statistics Committee.

In 2024, women in unregistered marriages gave birth to 13,228 children. The figures stood at 15,622 in 2023, 18,814 in 2022, 17,566 in 2021, and 17,714 in 2020.

The committee also reported that average life expectancy in Azerbaijan is 76.9 years — 74.5 years for men and 79.2 for women.

Life expectancy remains slightly higher among the urban population compared to rural areas, according to the official data.
