Azerbaijan repatriates women and children from Syria

Six Azerbaijani citizens — two women and four children — have been repatriated from Syria, the Foreign Ministry said.

The repatriation was carried out as part of the government’s phased and coordinated efforts.

Authorities first identified the location, identity and citizenship of those involved. Later, representatives of relevant state bodies were sent to Syria to conduct initial medical and psychological assessments of the returnees.

The ministry said that further steps will be taken to ensure their social rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
