Qarabag head coach Gurban Gurbanov said his team showed true Azerbaijani spirit in a 2–2 draw against Chelsea in the Champions League, earning their first-ever point against an English club.

“My players fought like warriors and held on until the end against one of Europe’s strongest teams. Matches like this increase interest in football in Azerbaijan,” Gurbanov said.

Asked by a Turkish journalist whether he wanted to become “the next Ferguson, Guardiola or Mourinho,” Gurbanov replied:
“My mother named me Gurban Gurbanov, and that’s who I want to remain.”
