Five more European teams qualify for World Cup 2026 — 39 of 48 participants confirmed

Europe’s group stage qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have concluded. Scotland, Spain, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland secured the final direct spots on the last matchday.

They join earlier qualifiers from Europe: Germany, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Norway, England and Croatia.

Another 16 teams will compete in the play-offs in March, with the draw set for November 20.

A total of 39 nations have now booked their place at the 2026 World Cup.
