Georgia to consider adding Azerbaijani language and literature to school curriculum

The Georgian government is reviewing a proposal to list Azerbaijani language and literature as a separate subject within the curriculum section dedicated to minority languages. The initiative was officially submitted by Aygul Isayeva, civic activist and head of the Education Organization, she told Report’s local bureau.

She said the request has been formally registered with the Ministry of Education and other relevant state institutions. According to Isayeva, the initiative aims to expand access to mother-tongue education for ethnic Azerbaijanis living in Georgia. She also thanked everyone who supported the signature campaign.

The proposal is currently under review by the relevant authorities, with the outcome expected to be announced in the coming days.
