Farah Pahlavi tells Iranians: ‘You will soon be celebrating’
Exiled former empress Farah Pahlavi said Iranians would soon be able to celebrate freedom together amid ongoing protests in Iran, voicing support for demonstrators and offering condolences to the families of those killed.
“You will soon be celebrating freedom together in Iran, and light will prevail over darkness,” Pahlavi wrote on social media platform X.
She said the authorities had shut down communications “out of fear that people’s voices would be heard,” adding that the protesters’ message could not be silenced. Commenting on videos showing the deaths of protesters, Pahlavi said the images caused her “deep pain.”
She expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured. Addressing Iran’s armed forces, Pahlavi urged them not to tie their fate to those responsible for bloodshed and to stand with the people, saying no political interest or survival could justify killing fellow citizens.
