Insured livestock in Azerbaijan more than doubles in 2025
The number of insured agricultural livestock in Azerbaijan reached 6,935 head in 2025, more than double the previous year, the State Insurance Fund said.
In 2024, a total of 3,276 cattle and small ruminants were insured under the agricultural insurance mechanism. The scheme covers crop areas as well as dairy and beef cattle and small livestock, with the state subsidising 50% of insurance premiums to support farmers.
Under current tariffs, insuring cattle valued at 1,000 manat costs farmers between 24 and 39 manat, while insurance for small ruminants valued at 300 manat ranges from 7 to 10 manat.
Insurance premiums collected for livestock rose 2.5 times in 2025 to 4.7 million manat. Insurance coverage provided to livestock farms exceeded 46 million manat, up 2.3 times from 2024.
Last year, insurance payouts totalling 394,000 manat were made to farmers and agricultural enterprises affected by various risks, primarily infectious diseases, feed poisoning and attacks by wild animals.
