IRGC reports explosions on two tankers near Strait of Hormuz
Two oil tankers exploded and caught fire south of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said.
According to the IRGC, the vessels attempted to pass through an unsafe route that the Iranian side described as mined. Rescue teams are evacuating the crews, Iranian state news agency IRNA reported.
The names, flags and owners of the tankers, as well as the number of people on board, were not disclosed. There was also no immediate information about casualties.
The circumstances of the incident could not be independently verified.
