Media: US sharply increases military financing for Armenia

The United States allocated more than $8.1 million to Armenia for military purposes in fiscal year 2024, RIA Novosti said, referring to US government data.

According to the information, this figure amounted to approximately $16,000 in 2023 and $1.3 million in 2022.

US military financing for Armenia under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program began in 2002. From 2002 to 2024, the total amount of military financing allocated to Armenia under this program exceeded $60 million.

Although data for 2025 have not been disclosed, it is reported that the amount is expected to increase sharply. In January 2025, the US Department of State announced that approximately $18 million had been allocated to Armenia’s defense sector under the FMF program. These funds were directed toward projects such as the purchase of armored ambulances, the establishment of a Cyber Defense Operations Center, and improving the capabilities of the National Training Center.
