Mikayil Jabbarov: Middle Corridor trade flows could triple by 2030
Targeted investments and efficiency enhancements could triple trade flows along the Middle Corridor and cut transit times in half by 2030, Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku, citing World Bank projections.
Addressing the forum, Jabbarov highlighted that Azerbaijan's political stability, policy predictability, low sovereign debt, substantial fiscal buffers, and clear investor protection mechanisms establish a resilient foundation for long-term capital deployment. A specialized commission led by the Deputy Prime Minister has been established to accelerate strategic project execution and ensure inter-agency coordination.
The minister noted that the physical construction of core corridor infrastructure—including the Port of Baku, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, and the Caspian cargo fleet—is now fully completed. The strategic focus is shifting toward service quality, ensuring the route remains safe while maximizing cost and time competitiveness amid changing geopolitical dynamics. To achieve this, Azerbaijan and partner states are heavily investing in terminal operations, end-to-end digitalization, and AI-driven logistics solutions.
