Further bolstering military power and advancing national defense capabilities remain among the core priorities of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev stated during his address at the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) in Baku on October 2.

The head of state emphasized that Azerbaijan achieved victory and that the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia is now over. However, the president pointed out that the resolution of the conflict does not diminish the need to continuously strengthen the nation's military readiness. Stressing that a robust defense posture is essential for any country at all times, President Aliyev noted that this requirement is particularly paramount given the historical tragedies experienced by the Azerbaijani people.
