Adolescent Birth Rate in Azerbaijan Declines to 24 per 1,000 Women

The number of live births per 1,000 women aged 15–19 in Azerbaijan dropped to 24 in 2025, down from 27.6 recorded in 2024, according to the State Statistics Committee.

The downturn was observed across both rural and urban areas. In rural communities, the adolescent fertility rate decreased from 42.3 to 37 live births per 1,000 women, while urban areas saw a decline from 15.2 to 12.9. Despite the overall downward trend, the birth rate among females aged 15–19 in rural settlements remained approximately 2.9 times higher than that of their urban peers throughout 2025.
