Two Azerbaijan soldiers, who went missing on the border with Armenia two days ago, have been found dead in a minefield separating the two armies near the western Qazax District, the Defense Ministry in Baku said.
The soldiers, Musa Musayev and Tural Yolcuyev, had lost their way in a mountain and wooded area on June 23.
The International Committee of the Red Cross helped find the bodies, which have already been retrieved and handed over to their families for burial, the ministry said on its website.
Armenia and Azerbaijan have been in a state of war since the early 1990s when Armenia captured Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven adjacent districts.
While major hostilities ended with a cease-fire in 1994, no peace agreement has been signed.
