The UN special rapporteur on violence against women, Rashida Manjoo, will be on a visit to Azerbaijan from November 25 to December 5, the UN office in Geneva said in its statement.
According to the statement, the special rapporteur will examine issues related to violence against women, Azernews reported.Within the ten-day visit, Manjoo is to meet with Azerbaijani officials and visit Khachmaz, Ganja, Lankaran and Sumgait.The special rapporteur will also hold meetings with representatives of civil society, persons who have been granted asylum and prisoners serving sentences in correctional labor institutions.Based on the data gathered during the visit, Manjoo will report at the next session of the UN Human Rights Council, the statement said.This is the first visit to Azerbaijan by an independent expert appointed by the UN to examine violence against women.ANN.Az
