US embassy says no sanctions imposed on Azerbaijan

US embassy says no sanctions imposed on Azerbaijan
12.01.2015 18:00
The US embassy in Baku denied media reports that the Obama administration has imposed sanctions against a number of Azerbaijani officials accused of human rights abuses.

"The US has not imposed any sanctions against Azerbaijan or any of its officials,” the embassy’s press service said in response to questions by Azerbaijan News Network (ANN).

Pro-opposition Azarbaycan Saati (Azerbaijan Hour) program, aired on Turkey’s Can Erzincan satellite TV channel, last week claimed that the US and EU are mulling visa bans on a list of Azerbaijani officials, including Rustam Usubov, first deputy prodector-general.
