Watch out, it's Cloudzilla!

Watch out, it's Cloudzilla!

A cloud bearing a striking resemblance to Godzilla has been snapped in the Massachusetts skies.

The formation, which was captured by photographer Jay Albert on Route 128 in Gloucester last week, features the same scaly back, round head and towering stance as the giant killer reptile.

And it even includes a small arm, a curved leg and a mouth.

As a whole, the cloud appears to depict a less deadly version of Godzilla walking across the sky - as thousands of people below drive to work, unaware of the mutant monster looming above them.

Albert uploaded a photo of the apparent phenomenon to his blog, Cape Ann Images, on Monday, writing: 'On my way home from work the other morning I saw "Godzilla" crossing Route 128!'

It was then picked up by meteorologist Brad Panovich, who shared it on his Facebook page on Tuesday, alongside the caption: 'Spotted #godzilla #elnino today in Massachusetts.'

The image quickly went viral - with nearly 25,000 shares and 9,200 'likes' so far.

Many Facebook users were impressed by the lizard-shaped cloud, which Albert reportedly caught on camera as he was returning from work on the Yankee Division Highway one morning last week.

User Paula Wilson wrote: 'So sad I missed it,' while another posted: 'LOL It does look like him!!'

Others deemed it 'amazing', 'so cool' and 'a good likeness' to Godzilla.

However, some questioned the picture's authenticity.

User Stuart McDaniel wrote: 'That looks photoshopped.'

Albert took to Facebook himself to hit out at skeptics, writing: 'It's real, not altered other than darkening the image and cropping out the sun due to the glare through my dirty windshield.

'I was on my way home from work and spotted this in son Route 128.'

Several users even decided to share their own snaps of bizarre cloud formations on Facebook.
