At least 32 killed in powerful Venezuela earthquake
At least 32 people were killed and about 700 injured in two powerful earthquakes in Venezuela, authorities said.
Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said rescue services were continuing operations in the affected areas.
Gustavo Duque, mayor of Caracas’ Chacao municipality, said 18 people had been pulled alive from under collapsed buildings.
The U.S. Geological Survey said two quakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck northern Venezuela 40 seconds apart.
Authorities declared a state of emergency.
