Azeri gas reserves enough for next 100 years - president

Azerbaijan's gas reserves will be enough for consumers for the next 100 years, President Ilham Aliyev has said, APA news agency reported on 24 October.

President Ilham Aliyev made this remark at a meeting with Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic in Baku. Aliyev said that Azerbaijan will become an important partner at the European energy market in the near future. "This partnership will last for decades as Azerbaijan's natural gas reserves are enough both for us and for consumers for the next 100 years. Therefore, cooperation in the energy security sector will be for a long time and of strategic nature," APA cited Aliyev as saying.

He also said that "at a meeting with the Croatian president, we have discussed very encouraging cooperation in the energy sector and we are now partners".

In another report, APA cited the Croatian president as saying that Croatia wants to end dependence on a single energy source. "This refers both to oil and natural gas."

"We are impatiently waiting for the completion of TANAP [Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project], TAP [Trans Adriatic Pipeline] and other energy projects and the connection of the Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline to this network. Thus, we are waiting for the realization of my initiative on the connecting the Adriatic, Baltic and Black seas through transport, energy and digitalization infrastructure."

She added that "compared to the Northern Atlantic routes, this one will definitely reduce the transportation time".

President Grabar-Kitarovic also underlined that Croatia has many construction companies intending to operate in Azerbaijan, adding that "we also have companies making trains, ships and other transport facilities".
