Blinken supports protesters in West Azerbaijan province

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has stressed the escalating violence by security forces against protesters in the city of Mahabad in the Iranian province of West Azerbaijan.
"Greatly concerned that Iranian authorities are reportedly escalating violence against protesters, particularly in the city of Mahabad. We continue to pursue accountability for those involved, as we support the Iranian people," the US diplomat said on Twitter.
