Brazilian police break up protests in Sao Paulo hours before World Cup begins - PHOTO+VIDEO

There have been clashed between Brazilian police and protesters in Sao Paulo on Thursday.Officers used tear gas and rubber bullets to break up a protest just hours before the city was due to host the opening World Cup match.Hundreds of protesters tried to block a road linking to the Corinthians Arena where Brazil are due to play Croatia at 22.00 CET.At least five people have been reported injured including two journalists from US television network CNN.There is anger that more than 8 billion euros has been spent on hosting the World Cup.Last year, more than a million people joined protests across the country to demand better public services and highlight the high cost of staging the World Cup.(euronews.com)Bakudaily.az
