The decomposed body of a humanoid figure has washed up in a stream in Paraguay - and terrified locals believe it to be mythical vampire-like creature Chupacabra.
The lifeless body was filmed by locals floating in shallow water in the town of Carmen del Parana in southern Paraguay's Itapua region.
The footage has since going viral after emerging online and many superstitious locals have suggested that the creepy figure is the legendary animal believed to inhabit parts of Latin America.
In the video the local filming zooms in on the creature, which appears to have human hands, floating by the edge of the stream.
Carmen del Parana Fire Brigade were later called to fish the unidentified body out of the water in order for it to be examined by experts.
Commander of the department, Javier Medina, said: 'Given its traits, we believe it is a species of monkey because of the hands and legs.
'But in reality no one can say what exactly the creature is as it was found in an advanced state of decomposition.'
Forensic expert Pablo Lemir said: 'It looks like an ape with humanoid features. But the fact it was partially decomposed modifies its physical traits.'
However many people contacted by local media insisted that the creature was the Chupacabra.
The Chupacabra is a mythical animal reportedly seen around Latin America.
It is known to kill goats and drink their blood, and its name literally translates as 'goat sucker'.
Like the Yetti and Bigfoot, the existence of the animal has never been proven despite the prevalence of rumours that it is real.
