Halt of Russian gas could cost Slovakia €10 billion

A complete cessation of Russian natural gas supplies could cost Slovakia approximately €10 billion, the country's Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar announced during a joint press briefing with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul.

Blanar stated that Bratislava will actively defend its strategic energy interests and pursue mechanisms to mitigate potential financial shocks. He noted that Slovakia remains reliant on Russian energy flows, framing energy security as a paramount issue of national stability.

The foreign minister added that bilateral energy issues outside the scope of international sanctions will be tabled during the upcoming session of the Slovak-Russian intergovernmental commission.
