AzerGold unveils Kalbajar-themed gold and silver commemorative coin collection
AzerGold CJSC has issued a new collection of gold and silver commemorative coins dedicated to the Kalbajar district, celebrating the region's mineral springs, historical heritage, and natural landscape.
The artistic composition weaves together traditional artisanal symbols representing the cultural identity of Kalbajar. The core design highlights intricate motifs from a late 19th-century flat-woven mafrash—a heritage carpet bag historically used for storage and transport. The outer rim adopts a honeycomb pattern inspired by the region's mountain beekeeping traditions and alpine honey, while 17 symmetrical lines along the upper and lower edges represent the frets of the traditional saz, honoring Kalbajar's renowned Ashiq musical heritage.
Minted from domestically extracted gold and silver of 999.9 purity, the coins are available across multiple denominations: gold coins in 5, 10, and 20-gram weights, and silver coins in a 20-gram format. The collection is available through AzerGold’s Sales and Exchange Center in Baku and its official e-commerce portal. The launch expands AzerGold's numismatic portfolio to 27 distinct collections, comprising 15 gold and 12 silver editions.
