Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy, and Kate Moss are just a few of the female starlets whose never before seen portraits are on exhibition in New York this week.
Iconic photographer Bert Stern's collection of images are on display at the Stanley-Wise Gallery in Manhattan until June 20.
The intimate series offers a rare glimpse of Marilyn Monroe. One collection of the sultry star shot by Stern is crossed over with orange marker by the actress herself after asking to see the photos before they appeared in Vogue.
Kate Moss playfully glances at his lens during the height of her career and Suzy Parker gives a sultry stare as she gets her first haircut.
Stern, who began his career as a mail-room clerk at Look Magazine, later went on to photograph Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy, Louis Armstrong and Frank Lloyd Wright.
He first made a name for himself in 1955 with a legendary Smirnoff Vodka campaign that pushed him to the top of the advertising world, says a press release from the Stanley-Wise Gallery.
The Staley-Wise Gallery has represented Bert Stern since the gallery opened in 1982, and the gallery remains the exclusive representative of the Estate of Bert Stern since his death in 2013.
In the 1970s Stern's career began to decline but a decade after his return in the 1980s people began reevaluating his work.
Stern died on June 26, 2013 but his images will remain as an imprint of Hollywood history.
