Foreign Aid for Azerbaijan Demining Stalls at 4%
While Azerbaijan has allocated roughly $590 million toward humanitarian mine action since November 2020, international donor support accounts for only about 4% of that amount, ANAMA Board Chairman Vugar Suleymanov disclosed in Baku.
Addressing international delegates, Suleymanov stressed that the vast majority of operations remain state-funded, despite the catastrophic scale of explosive contamination across the region.
He urged global partners and donor institutions to scale up assistance, emphasizing that international cooperation in mine action should be viewed not as simple clearance aid, but as an essential investment in human security, sustainable development, and long-term peace.
