882 counterfeit banknotes withdrawn from circulation in 2024

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) reported that it focused on combating counterfeiting and coordinating with law enforcement agencies in 2024.

According to the CBA, 379 counterfeit banknotes in the national currency totaling 32,611 manats and 503 counterfeit notes in foreign currencies were identified and withdrawn from circulation. All were handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.

Additionally, CBA’s cash offices in Baku and the regions continued to accept and exchange damaged or worn banknotes from citizens. A total of 155,200 notes worth 6.7 million manats were accepted and exchanged during the year.
