Azerbaijan's solar power output climbs 13% in first eight months

Azerbaijan's solar power plants generated 407.9 million kWh of electricity from January to August 2025, a 13% increase compared with the same period last year, according to the State Statistics Committee.

Overall electricity production in the country reached 18.32 billion kWh in the reporting period, up 1.5% year on year. Of that, 17.71 billion kWh was classified as marketable electricity, representing annual growth of 1.4%.

Hydropower plants accounted for 2.26 billion kWh, a 6.6% rise compared with January–August 2024. Thermal power stations remained the largest source, producing 15.01 billion kWh, a modest increase of 0.4% over the previous year.

By contrast, wind power output fell by 13.5% to 33.4 million kWh during the same period.
