Landmine explosion injures one in Aghdara district

A landmine explosion in the Shikharkh village of Azerbaijan’s Aghdara district injured one person, according to a joint statement by the Interior Ministry, Prosecutor General’s Office and ANAMA.

Authorities said Nazim Penahaliyev, born in 1970, stepped on an anti-personnel mine while grazing livestock in an uncleared area. He sustained injuries to his right leg and was evacuated to a local hospital.

The Tartar District Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation.

Officials urged citizens to follow safety guidelines, heed mine warning signs and avoid entering unfamiliar or potentially hazardous areas.
