Azerbaijan’s public debt declines

As of Jan. 1, 2026, Azerbaijan’s external public debt stood at $4.81 billion (8.18 billion manats), equivalent to 6.3% of GDP, while domestic public debt reached 17.8 billion manats, or 13.8% of GDP.

According to the Finance Ministry, external public debt fell by 6.7% year-on-year, while domestic debt declined by 4.6%.

As a result, Azerbaijan’s total public debt amounted to 25.99 billion manats at the end of 2025, down 5.3% from the end of the previous year.
