The number of unique bank depositors in Azerbaijan reached about 194,000 by the end of 2025, up 81.3% from the end of 2024, the head of the central bank said.

Central Bank of Azerbaijan chairman Taleh Kazimov said the sharp increase over the past two years reflects growing confidence in the banking sector. The number of unique depositors stood at 106,000 at the end of 2024.

Kazimov said recent monetary policy measures, including the introduction of the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), helped create more balanced deposit rates across the sector. As a result, term deposits increased by 1.8 billion manats in 2024 and 2.3 billion manats in 2025.

He added that the central bank plans to resume discussions next year on differentiating banks’ contributions to the deposit insurance fund based on their risk profiles.
