Azerbaijan to tighten hiring rules with mandatory drug-related health checks

Azerbaijan to tighten hiring rules with mandatory drug-related health checks
10.04.2026 14:30

Azerbaijan plans to introduce mandatory medical examinations for workers with drug dependency both at hiring and during employment, according to a draft amendment approved in its first reading by parliament.

The bill предусматривает pre-employment checks for positions where restrictions apply to individuals with drug dependency.

It also allows employers to require unscheduled medical examinations at their own expense if there are reasonable suspicions that an employee is under the influence of psychoactive substances.

Such procedures will be carried out in line with the law on narcological services and control.
