Iran deploys Mi-28 helicopters over Tehran, media report
Iran’s air force deployed two Russian-made Mi-28 attack helicopters over Tehran, Military Watch Magazine reported.
The publication said the flight appeared intended to demonstrate that Iran retains operational aircraft despite weeks of U.S. and Israeli strikes.
Analysts cited by the outlet said the presence of such high-value assets suggests Iran’s combat capabilities remain intact.
The Mi-28 helicopters are the only attack helicopters in Iran’s arsenal and have not been used in combat, but could potentially be deployed against drones and missiles, the report said.
Separately, Financial Times reported earlier that Tehran and Moscow had agreed on a secret arms deal worth 500 million euros to restore Iran’s air defence systems, including the delivery of up to six Mi-28 helicopters.
