Azerbaijan harvests 93% of grain fields, securing over 3.1 million metric tons of crops

As of August 3, 2026, Azerbaijan has completed the harvesting of 925,100 hectares (93%) of autumn and spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize) out of the targeted 994,900 hectares.

According to APA-Economics, citing the State Statistics Committee, total yield reached 3,131,900 metric tons, with an average productivity of 3.39 metric tons per hectare. Wheat accounted for 1,534,800 tons (49.0%), barley for 1,561,200 tons (49.9%), and other grain crops for 35,900 tons (1.1%).

Compared to the same period last year, total grain production grew by 6.2%, driven by a 15.9% surge in barley yields. Wheat output dipped by 2.1% due to reduced harvested acreage (420,700 hectares vs. 466,900 hectares in 2025), though wheat productivity improved from 3.36 to 3.65 tons per hectare.

Harvesting operations are complete in 13 districts, while 30 other regions have cleared over 90% of their fields. Jalilabad (298,900 tons), Sheki (186,700 tons), and Aghjabadi (167,200 tons) led in total output, while Aghjabadi and Tovuz recorded the highest average yields per hectare.
