Trial begins for Azerbaijan's ex-presidential chief Ramiz Mehdiyev

The trial of Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of Azerbaijan's Presidential Administration, opens today at the Baku Court of Serious Crimes.

The preparatory hearing is scheduled to be held under the chairmanship of Judge Murad Aslanov.

Mehdiyev faces charges under Articles 193-1.3.2 (large-scale money laundering), 274 (high treason), and 278.1 (violent seizure of power or constitutional subversion) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
