SOCAR Georgia Imports 5,000 Tons of Gasoline from Italiana Petroli

SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR, has imported 5,000 tonnes of high-grade gasoline into Georgia from its newly integrated European unit Italiana Petroli. 

The shipment, compliant with European EN 228 specifications, was delivered to Georgia aboard a SOCAR-owned vessel, marking the first direct commercial transaction between the two entities. The delivery follows SOCAR's closing of its acquisition of a 99.82% stake in Italiana Petroli on May 8, 2026, which expanded the state firm's refining and retail footprint across Europe. 

Nodar Kanchaveli, director of SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, underscored that combining Italiana Petroli's refining expertise with SOCAR's transit assets diversifies fuel supply channels in Georgia and bolsters consistent European-standard product flows. SOCAR established its presence in Georgia in 2006 through SOCAR Energy Georgia, its first foreign subsidiary.
