Azerbaijan’s current account surplus doubled year-on-year to $4.7 billion in the first half of 2026, Central Bank Statistics Department Director Samir Nasirov said.

The surplus was mainly driven by the country’s net trade balance and secondary income balance, he said.

Azerbaijan’s primary income balance, meanwhile, recorded a $908 million deficit, down 16% from the same period of 2025.

Nasirov said net investment income outflows related to direct investment amounted to $1.4 billion during the period.

Net income from the country’s portfolio investments in securities abroad generated a $606 million surplus, he added.
