Baku dust levels exceed normal limits on cross-border winds

Dusty atmospheric conditions have descended over Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, with automated monitoring stations recording dust particulate levels 1.2 to 1.3 times above permissible limits, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources announced.

According to the Environmental Pollution Monitoring Group, the haze is transboundary in origin, driven into the region by prevailing south-easterly air currents. Meteorological forecasts indicate the dusty conditions are likely to persist across the peninsula for up to two days.
