Azerbaijani traffic police tighten checks on farm machinery on roads

Azerbaijan's Main State Traffic Police Department has issued a safety warning as seasonal fieldwork triggers a sharp surge in agricultural machinery on national highways.

Authorities noted that operating defective tractors and combines lacking functional exterior lights, displaying illegal technical modifications, or running without official license plates significantly increases the risk of severe road crashes.

Police also flagged hazards tied to transporting farmhands on open-bed trucks, tractors, and flatbeds, alongside hauling unsecured straw and oversized agricultural cargo exceeding permissible weight and dimensional limits.

The department urged farm owners and agribusinesses to ensure worker safety, confirming that road compliance inspections targeting rural machinery have been intensified.
