Azerbaijan prepares military pay and pension overhaul

Azerbaijan is preparing a comprehensive reform package to modernize compensation structures and pension mechanisms across its armed forces in line with international standards, military analyst Adalat Verdiyev reported.

According to Verdiyev, the initiative aims to establish a unified pay scale factoring in service conditions, operational environments, and role difficulty. The measures are expected to increase average remuneration for Ministry of Defense personnel by roughly 25% or more.

The planned framework also envisions shifting the primary base pay component toward rank-based salaries, raising that share to around 70% of total compensation, alongside modernizing and digitizing military pension administration.
