Baku Declares 31 Turkish Citizens Persona Non Grata
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared 31 Turkish citizens undesirable persons and barred them from entering the country. According to a ministry statement, the sanctions respond to coordinated public statements across social media and digital platforms that targeted Azerbaijan's sovereignty, constitutional order, national security, and state leadership, alongside rhetoric inciting religious extremism, hatred, and the unlawful overthrow of power.
The entry ban list includes Turkish Member of Parliament Omer Faruk Gergerlioglu, New Welfare Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan, HUDA PAR Deputy Chairman Yahya Ugras, theologian Mehmet Boynukalin, sports pundit Ahmet Cakar, alongside various journalists, commentators, and public figures. The Foreign Ministry stressed that strict legal and diplomatic measures will persist against any individuals conducting hostile, destabilizing activities against Azerbaijan.
