Azerbaijan to Fine Unauthorized Military Absence

A draft amendment to the Code of Administrative Offences has been submitted for discussion in the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Building. Under the proposal, officers, warrant officers, midshipmen, and extended-duty military personnel who leave their unit without authorization or fail to report for duty without valid cause for a period exceeding 1 day and up to 10 days will face fines ranging from 200 to 300 AZN, or administrative detention of up to 15 days.

For repeated violations committed within one year of an administrative penalty entering into legal force, the proposed penalty increases to a fine of 300 to 500 AZN or administrative detention ranging from 10 days to one month.
