Armed Border Trespasser Neutralized After Firing on Azerbaijani Border Guards

An armed border violator attempting an illegal crossing from Iran into Azerbaijan was neutralized on the operational perimeter of the "Goytepe" border detachment, the State Border Service (SBS) of the Republic of Azerbaijan said in a statement.

Upon detecting the breach, the border outpost was placed on immediate tactical alert and cordoned off the sector. Disregarding vocal halt commands and warning shots into the air, the infiltrator opened direct gunfire on the personnel. In accordance with the national Law "On the State Border," border guards returned fire, neutralizing the armed trespasser. Iranian authorities were officially informed via established border commissioner liaison channels. A criminal investigation has been launched, with the State Border Service and the Military Prosecutor's Office conducting joint operational inquiries.
