Azerbaijan sees oil output stable at 43m tons this year

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natiq Aliyev said the country plans to produce 43 million tonnes of oil in 2014.

"Our main goal is to maintain production volume at the level of 40 million to 45 million tonnes. Necessary work is being carried out," he said.

According to Aliyev, oil production was estimated at 41 million tonnes in 2013 but exceeded the 43 million tonne mark.

The minister said gas production stood at 29 billion cubic metres last year, noting that the government's major task is to maintain stability of gas production.
