Will Windows 8 be bailed out by… Android?

Will Windows 8 be bailed out by… Android?

With the Consumer Electronics Show coming next month, computer makers are doing whatever they can to attract attention. This includes Asus, which released a psychedelic 30-second teaser video that hints its next big tablet that it will unveil at CES will dual-boot with both Android and Windows 8.Until we see more details, we can’t be sure how this new tablet will differ from the current Asus Trio, which can also run both Windows 8 and Android. The current Trio is designed to be run with a keyboard dock, so perhaps the new Trio will focus more on being a tablet only. If it only ran the tablet-optimized Windows RT, it could potentially have a longer battery life and be less confusing to consumers, although it looks like Asus is determined to make the dual-boot concept actually work.Right now, Windows 8 is struggling to gain traction thanks to poor reviews and a polarizing user interface. Perhaps the Asus Trio could help act as a gateway drug to Windows 8, since people who want an Android tablet might be willing to give it a try if they know they can switch back to their preferred platform whenever they want to.Whatever happens, we’ll learn more about the device when Asus reveals it on January 6th, a day before CES officially kicks off.
