Azerbaijan economic growth slows in first 11 months

Azerbaijan’s economic growth slowed in the first 11 months of 2014 year on year as oil production continued to decline.

Gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 2.2 percent in the January-November period year on year compared with 5.7 percent during the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee said on its website.

Industrial production fell 1.5 percent as oil output declined to 38.4 million tons from 39.5 million tons a year earlier. 

Production of marketable natural gas rose to 17 billion cubic meters from 16.2 billion cubic meters.

The non-oil economy expanded 6.5 percent during the first 11 months year on year compared with 9.5 percent a year earlier.

Consumer prices grew 1.5 percent compared with 2.3 percent in the first 11 months of 2013.
