Wheelchair users dangle from bridge in extreme anti government protest

One demonstrator said: "Unfortunately since we’ve not had an answer from the government we’ve had to take these extreme measures”

Some protesters are even having themselves cemented into a tiny brick enclosure.

The protests are an attempted to get government officials to pay attention to their plight.

The protests are taking place in Bolivia, where they are calling on the government to up disability benefits to 500 boliviano (about £50) a month in benefits.

Disabled Bolivians currently receive 1000 boliviano a year - roughly £8.50 a month.

Manuel added: "We ask the government and authorities to please engage in a dialogue with this sector (of people with disabilities).

Protester Prima Manuel spent three days inside the tiny brick box, and is ready to go back in to make sure her demands are heard.

After spending three days in cramped confinement she said: "I couldn't get enough air inside there [the enclosure].

"I didn't get enough oxygen in there. It is painful to be surrounded by the four walls,”

"If they will not hold talks, it doesn't matter. We're going to die in there [inside the enclosure] because I plan to go back in there even more prepared.

"I feel sorry for my colleagues who have to suffer hanging up there in the heat.”
