Iranian lawmaker says Pakistan is not suitable mediator in talks

Iranian lawmaker says Pakistan is not suitable mediator in talks
27.04.2026 12:30

Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei said Pakistan was not a suitable mediator in talks with the United States.

Rezaei said Pakistan remained Iran’s “friend and good neighbour” but lacked the necessary authority to mediate and, in his view, took account of U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests.

He also claimed that Washington had initially accepted Pakistani proposals before later rejecting them.

Rezaei said any mediator should remain neutral rather than take a one-sided position.
